Golf Divas

After watching Guangzhou resident, Guan Tianlang, play in the Masters Tournament, my resident Divas finally found a sport that requires little to no sweat - golf.

They found out that the equipment comes in **pink**, and the 9 hole group revolves around snacks at the club afterwards...

But most of all - DAD loves this game and will spend lots of time teaching and playing with them...

I guess I'll have to brush the cobwebs off my old bag and see if my shoes still fit.  Golf is about my pace after my AT rupture last year and we can walk right out the back gate to play.  And since Mother's Day is coming, maybe I could spruce up my 15 year old clubs with something like this:

Note the little flowers on the side.  Hopefully, hubby is reading my blog. :)

For other golf enthusiasts, there is a little boy on the waiting list who has a very mild case of hemophilia.  His condition doesn't require hospital visits for injuries, but it's best to do non-colliding sports as big collisions make for bigger "bruises."

He loves to run, and golf would be the perfect sport for this child as there is nearly no chance of big injuries (unless you are like my girls and walk exuberantly behind golfers in mid-swing continuously - but that takes special "talent")  His list name is "Gideon" and he hails from a golf crazy town. He loves to play chess, read, and does very well in school (he is a straight A student.)  He is loved by his foster family and neighborhood, and would love to have a family of his own. I have a doctor's evaluation of his file for anyone interested.  His video can be seen here  Please pass the word about this lovely boy - he is a hidden treasure on the shared list.

Homeschool PE

The pool is open, so after a quick jog, the girls cool off!

And then the finale

Now time for Reading Class

And a little "sun room engineering" thrown in!  The way all school should be!

My Pastor reads my fb page

I’m sure of it.  Every weekend is a different sermon addressing where I’ve fallen short – how I’ve been filled with anxiety over this or that, been quarrelsome about my opinions, discouraged with the way the culture is headed, etc.  Occasionally, it’s kudos, but most often correction and direction.

This week, I carefully veiled “my issues” and sent the prayer requests out privately.  I figured someone else in the congregation needed some work and it was going to be my weekend off from conviction.  Not so.

The Lord knows our hearts, and sends his servants to counsel us – the Holy Spirit uses our Pastors to teach all and one at the same time.  This Sunday was no different and the message was clear; wait on God.

The precious thing was how his servant worded it, and my fellow adoptive mamas will appreciate the message.  In short, the Pastor told us that women have “an innate sense of how the world ought to be.”  And the best part was that “we’re right.” :)  But then the clincher: even when we’re trying to make things right, we must wait on God to lead through our husbands, as God uses them to direct our hearts and purposes.  God has a good plan and perfect timing – and only within those parameters can His glory be accomplished.  I know this well – but need reminding constantly.

Trusting God doesn’t mean counting on Him to make our wishes come true - it means counting on Him to know what’s best -when it’s best.  It means trusting Him with all our goods, talents (or lack thereof), timing, and circumstances.  It means putting His will first and ours second, and remaining joyful when the two don’t match.  It means living in the present and trusting the future to the only one who knows it.

Thanking God today for seeing through my best efforts at concealment.

Adoptive Mama fun!

I had a great time meeting some of my favorite people from the bloggy world today!  Carmi H. and Karen Y. were in town from across the country and it was fun to finally see them in "3D!"  Karen is one of those people who always explains how Jesus wants us to look at things, and I love to read her posts.  It was such a blessing to meet her sweet girls!  I wish everyone lived closer - we really missed getting to meet the Roy and Lori Cross - authors of my favorite bacon posts...:)

The local crew brought their newest family members and we were able to give them hearty welcomes.  I hope we didn't scare them too badly with our craziness.  Here's a pic of Angie R.'s newest boys!

And the home boys - all the girls love Colin!  Cameron looks scared in the background...

The girls with an unknown toddler caught up in their "Occupy Slide" pic:

While talking with Karen I had a bug land on my shoulder...a LADYBUG!! Hmmmm.....

We had a great time and finished up with lunch at Costco.  I'm convinced we need a national Adoptive Mama convention, lol.  Jean M. can be a speaker, and I'd love to see the rest of my bloggy friends and travel partners again.  Annie H. - I'll leave that for you and Angie to organize.  These ladies are some of the most fun people I know!

Springtime fun!

Yesterday was the perfect spring day.  We headed out to the orthodontist and stopped to take pics at a little patch of flowers.

My wild ones stirred up the orthodontist office and got a thrill out of brushing and flossing their teeth away from home.

Next - a picnic on the water by the aquarium.  The waterfront was crowded with tourists during spring break and for the Bridge Run this weekend.  We enjoyed "people watching" as we don't get out much, haha!

On to the obligatory aquarium pics - everytime we go.  The girls insist on one in front of the small tank at the front, and of course the windblown look with the Yorktown in the distance.

All my chicks safe in the Eagle's nest.  We love visiting the Bald Eagle while she's here.

Shark attack in the gift shop.  Everyone was disappointed that I was out of money after the orthodontist, lol!  Rachel REALLY wanted that Venus Flytrap...

A beautiful day to enjoy the local tourist treats that we usually take for granted. :)
